This year DjangoCon US was hosted in Philadelphia, PA, the city of brotherly love. Eldarion is proud to have been a part of this amazing conference.
The event took place from July 17-22, at the Wharton School of Business on the beautiful University of Pennsylvania campus.
Here are a few numbers to give you a little impression of what DjangoCon US 2016 was like:
- 1 day of (5) tutorials
- 3 days of (49) talks
- 2 days of sprints
- 45% women speakers
- Over 450 Djangonauts
- 7 Eldarion team members who attended the conference
- 3 Eldarion team members who spoke at the conference
- 200 Eldarion rubber ducks
There was also a fun opening reception at a bowling alley, a Django Girls workshop, a wonderful Philly scavenger hunt, many cheesesteaks were consumed (our team is still debating whether cheese whiz or provolone cheese is the way to go), and our very own Patrick Altman, who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, got to return to Philadelphia for the first time since graduation 16 years ago, and reconnected with his old college football coach (awesome, right?).
It was a true conference from the community for the community. The organizers did an amazing job putting together this wonderful and diverse community event and we couldn’t thank them enough for all their efforts and hard work.
Eldarion is proud to have been a part of DjangoCon US yet again, as sponsors, speakers, and attendees, and we are already looking forward to DjangoCon US 2017!
Blog posts summarizing the 3 talks presented by our team members will follow soon. Please stay tuned!
